Bodenglück didn’t start with a tech stack. It started with a conviction:


Two childhood friends, two very different paths: one rooted in a family-run flooring business, the other shaped by digital commerce and e-commerce operations. What brought them together was the idea that buying flooring shouldn’t feel like a blind online purchase — but it also shouldn’t require endless offline coordination.


The result was a hybrid model: a curated online shop combined with real, personal advice.

It worked. Customers trusted it. Demand grew. And with growth came complexity — fast.

What made Bodenglück successful also made operations hard.


Sample orders weren’t just samples. They were the beginning of real projects. Customers needed advice. Inventory had to be reserved early. Deliveries ranged from parcel shipping to freight forwarding. Payments rarely happened in one step — deposits came first, final invoices later.


Shopify handled transactions. Spreadsheets filled the gaps. People carried context in their heads.


That setup didn’t break immediately — but it didn’t scale either.

Like many growing e-commerce businesses, Bodenglück started with tools that were “good enough”.


Shopify for orders. Spreadsheets for coordination. Manual workarounds where systems fell short. As volumes increased, those gaps turned into daily friction: missing context, unclear priorities, and rising operational risk.

bob approached the project from the inside out.


Before talking about software, the team focused on understanding decisions, dependencies and edge cases — the things that usually don’t show up in standard process diagrams, but decide whether operations run smoothly or not.
